A look at Crime Prevention in North Bay.

If you live in North Bay & Struggle. I hope this is an option that has been made readily available to you.

“Crime, is it is nuisance to society & a black-white way of reviewing people’s capacity for goodness? Or is a crime a mechanism used by the lower class as a method of survival.” Ashton Deroy

Over the weekend I placed myself in North Bay to recover from flu for which I overstressed. It is here where I am staying with 2 individuals. One who is diagnosed with PTSD one of the conditions I have. As well as another individual with autism a condition I also share. In order to protect their identities, their names will be omitted from this article.  My trip to get here was over 10 hours including my commute into downtown Toronto. Since arriving I have had traveling sickness & 2 major anxiety attacks.

It was here I learned about the policing environment executed in North Bay. Sure on the surface, it looks like a town all nice & cutely put together. Decorated with Private businesses & plenty of middle class to go around. It is the kind of place where someone can get drunk in their buddy’s shed. However, behind that quietness, there is a silent sadness occurring.

People with mental disorders in this town seem to shut out the world. At 7/23/2018 I am in a home with the aforementioned amazing hosts & because of the environment with frequent rainfall & social class policing my hosts are often locked inside. Where are their supports? This is going to have to be a question I answer in this journal.

What is Crime Prevention, according to Wikipedia refer to the quote below:

Wiki Define crime prevention

This article discusses the ugliness is racial profiling that exists in an overactive policing system related to New York. City.  https://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/insidestoryamericas/2012/06/201261952286250.html

How does this relate to North Bay?

North Bay in relationship to New York.png

New York is 10 hours away from North Bay.

North Bay To Toronto.png

About a 3-hour drive from Toronto.

North Bay to Ottawa.png

Plus 22 hours from Ottawa.

These three communities probably have the biggest influence on the structure created for North Bay society. I said earlier that this was largely a private community. Tons of small businesses, churches & tourism spots.

How does the policing look?

It is 8:00am/800. I am going to walk around to see if I can see a patrol car watching things. I want to mention that I believe even if they used a complaint based policing system in this town. The enforcement may still be executed much too swiftly. As commonly believed political theory states that Conservatism of a private economy much resembles a cleaner but still a devastating organizational fascism.

The police do not know me in this town. So if one was to profile me I am going to look disabled, in sweatpants & a baggy misfitting t-shirt. If possible I would love the chance to talk to a police officer about this crime prevention service. I will let you know how it goes.

Private communities AKA “outside my door I am blind.”

I am from a small town called Brighton Ontario. This above quote is the unfortunate truth I know about private communities.

Even from my time growing up in rural Canada. There was no teaching my community fast enough about the changed landscape of gay rights, religious freedoms & non-conforming gender individuals. The community was too busy devouring anyone who seemed different.

Police car.jpg
800/8:00am crime patrol and crime prevention car going about their route.

My new friend out patrolling at 800/8:00am. In case you missed it, I tried to get myself profiled in raggedy clothes so I could ask them about their crime prevention service. What I think I did wrong & what I can’t duplicate? Police have never agitated me so I don’t initiate hostility with them like my friends who claim,”We get pulled over all the time.” I also had brushed hair. A guy with brushed hair in sweatpants with big arms is just a fitness freak. When the hair is unruly that is when you get profiled as a lower class citizen.

My experience with police is more helpful than most. Police have been used to calm me and intervene in behaviors where I was a danger to myself as a young person with autism. This is one thing the Quinte West OPP do really well. I can remember when I was 14 the police have to get involved with stopping my mom’s intoxicated driving boyfriend. Back then it was one of the best things that could have possibly happened to our family.

Unfortunately, our mom stuck with him through his stupidities & he continues to abuse as well as scare me until I moved out at 14. That was the first time I was kicked out!

Is crime about survival?

“You won’t let me have the resources I need, so I find them.” I think that is what my friends would say if they were as articulate as me. You forget with the disability comes an innate barrier. You can’t access employment because so much of your life is out of control, you can’t access community resources because of they all close early, but you can access a hospital. Which is ironic since many of us in and around Toronto end up there after pushing our mental buttons down too hard.

A little hint, “Crime is about survival.”

Stories I can recall thus far.

  1. They found money around a gas station that accepted Point of Sale transaction at the pump. Meaning money commonly falls on the ground at these locations.
  2. They frauded a credit card as a means of survival.
  3. They were homeless in Toronto & traveled to North Bay by public & private transit.
  4. They as well as I can recall sleeping outside.

Questions I still have.

  1. Are the police using some form of intimidation to scare minority criminals?
  2. Is Social stigma in association with crime a barrier here?
  3. How do I apply what I have learned & my experiences to heal my own brain?
  4. Will my new friends find happiness together? Or will they find isolation? They deserve to be as happy as anyone else. hearts.png

At this time we have my sister Ashley working on a project to do artwork for my personal blog. Diana Skye is now developing her Fiverr shop that will be linked on this page as soon as it is ready. There is likely to be a higher output of the business this year than there was the year before. So lets get excited for everything happening!

Ashton Deroy Writes: My Depression was hitting me hard in April, as it usually does and I needed to have my spirits lifted. Alana Skye to the rescue again! She took me bowling in Newmarket and we annoyed some people as we always do. It was a great time. I am lucky to have some of the greatest friends & family imaginable. I hope you get a kick out of our bowling video below.

When is it time to transition from college staff to a recruiter & or career counsellor?

SwanWhispersASMR ad workspace.png

People sometimes ask why I get jobs so quickly in transition periods. They might even assume it has to do with a heightened skills that employers demand. Neither of these things are why though.

I have experience accessing resources for mental health, crisis & of course needing a job. When I need a job, I no longer waste my time on job boards & consulting professors. I go straight to the source. The people who are paid specifically to complete hiring quotas. I am talking about government funded employment counsellors &  company recruiters.

How do you know when it is time to approach employment counsellor instead of academic staff? If you have graduated college in Canada as of May 2018 it is time just get to Employment Ontario. Time to access these employment resources. They connect you with usually vetted job boards, resume & cover letter best practices and mock interviews. The people I know who were waiting on professors to get them digital marketing jobs are “still waiting”.

What if you want to join the army? Don’t get me wrong it is not an easy process but get started sooner rather than later. As of now I am still awaiting a college transcript to start this process. (It takes that long!) you might yourself have paperwork to get done. Get started now! However army recruiters are extremely efficient and I am related to a few.

How do I know if I can trust a talent recruiter or HR representative? They met with you in person. Every outsourced talent recruiter who I only meet on the phone is a complete moron! I don’t even think the last guy I talked to didn’t know half of what was happening at a firm whose job offer I had to reject. I have also been sent to non-existent sites & old addresses. When you are on the phone with a talent recruiter or HR rep? Ask if they will be at the office to meet with you. If not hit “do not go.”

How long did it take to get my last job? By not doing an on the couch job search, by connecting with experts and cold calling agencies. I got my job in field for the first time on

Wednesday May 2nd 2018.  I didn’t waste my time with a college career connection. I knew where I needed to go from my own research.

Should I quit my job to manage my online store?

Most Shopify users may as well be making minimum wage to under minimum wage. Only the smallest percent of survey Entrepreneur drop shippers make a killing.

Sorry to burst your bubble but this is not the time to be an online Entrepreneur. Sadly I think the time you wanted to get on and off the ride was from 2012-2015. Factoring in things such as the Facebook + YouTube Algorithm changes, the fact most stores sell want-based products & the percentage of people selling branded merchandise without proper licensing. This will not likely be how you make your living.

Should you quit your job for the drop shipping lifestyle? Absolutely not, you should keep your job and invest your income. Also, hire a content manager for when you are working. Someone to sign up email contacts, create content and get your brand noticed on the web because it is not easy anymore.

It is time to unload the truth on you. You became a drop shipper because you thought eCommerce would be an easy job. Why wouldn’t you think eCommerce is easy? That is what Shopify told you. Only to realize the market is cluttered, Facebook is screwing with your business & the customers don’t buy expensive products.

To unlicensed merchandise sellers in North America. There are now a variety of ways to report you for selling copyright merchandise, but you want to still take these stupid risks? Have someone do a risk analysis for you and you should be able to see that ripping off and reselling someone else’s intellectual property is not very smart. Even if you see Asian suppliers or stores doing it, you don’t do it! The Asian market is different and therefore follows different regulations for operating their creative businesses.

Now you know the truth about the drop shipping business. This is not your new career or your pathway to millionaire status. These are want-based stores, balancing on the balance beam of regulations & advertisers have been lying on behalf of Shopify to say selling goods on Facebook is easy. Do not quit your job to sell stuff on Shopify unless you want to starve.

Hi I am Ashton Deroy, thank you for checking out my resources for small web-based business management. What is the purpose of this lesson? We want people to stop focusing on creating small business brands. Instead, do what I do and create personal selling brands. Why am I not charging for these lessons? That is because the small business owners I am doing this for cannot afford my services. This does not mean they can not have effective sales campaigns.

These resources are created with the value that you do not need $1,000 in capital to start an effective small business. They are created with the knowledge that branding does not make sales for a brand. That actually creating sales rapport, doing direct marketing campaigns and owning your consumer’s time is the best way to generate sales and long lasting customer relationships. If you have any questions about any of these resources please go to resources below the sections and I will guide you with personalized advice.

We also do not dismiss the power of web-based communications. Only acknowledge that content should be a tool for globally targeted communications, not locally targeted. On 4/21/2018 Ashton Deroy was interviewed by Blog Process in the United Kingdom. This is an example of Ashton Deroy changing his digital marketing approach to be more globally focused.

It would be a lot easier to get your business if I sat here and lied to you for 30 hyperlinks. If I said “Hiring me would make your business automatically make money and you’d never need to work a real job again.” It would also be entirely misleading, also if this were true I really should work on a commission selling your products. I am not going to do that because the truth of the matter is I am absorbing the risk for my business and I don’t want the risk for your own business. I also am partnered with a drop shipping business, called TeaWithTracy

If you want easy sales training with cheap inspiration. Go listen to the ladies at Mary Kay & Avon lie their asses off to you. If you want the truth about the market, the decline of major social networks and falling consumer incomes. You are now in the right place. I don’t play Barbie’s dream shop, I have a real marketing shop online, I train real junior sales associates/graphic artists and a real writer.

No Bots allowed, focus on real sales & real relationships.

Section 1: Launching your campaign, finding key networks & getting the work done.

  1. Media planning – These are the key considerations in launching your digital marketing and sales campaign.
  2. Tools you need to be on in 2018– From connecting with Graphics Designers to Cloud Storage and Promotional printing tools. These are your marketing must-have tools for running your online shop.
  3. Developing your target audience

Section 2: What is my content?

  1. Tell your story – I have been accused of oversharing my personal story on the web. That is the best way to teach storytelling, however. I tell a no holds barred version of my story in that link.
  2. Less is more – Less sales promotion, More conversations. In 2015 Ashton worked with a very intelligent woman named Dina in the Interactive Marketing Communications program at St. Lawrence College. It was there we developed the theory that brands on the web needed to focus more on customer engagement and less on constant focus on conversion and sales.
  3. Professionalism is over rated!-Why having the professional production does not really mean anything if the content is boring?

Section 3: Profit subtracts from spending. Basic business on the guide.

  1. Your basic starter store, what it should include – What you thought you needed and what you actually need.
  2. Are you buying in to your brand? – A guide for selling stuff you yourself would actually buy.
  3. Sales is king, Marketing is the jester – This article explores different types of return buyers and destroys the myth of being your own boss.

Section 4: Entertainment & having fun.

  1. Shitty jobs – the Internet has never been just about selling stuff. It has been about entertaining the unconventional audience. In this Ashton Deroy plays a man who works as an outhouse cleaner. Alana Skye plays a crazy chick who is a PI or just a stalker… Who knows actually?
  2. Dating Advice with Diana & Diana’s Sister – Make up a story, try to stick to it.When the story is fake, it becomes more difficult to stick to. Strive for authenticity.  More importantly, have fun with it. The professional blog and website will likely keep your audience’s attention for under 5 minutes. If they have fun on your website, there is more potential for relationship building.
  3. $20 in advertising, where to spend it?

Section 5: Starting & registering a business.

  1. Should I use a loan to finance my business? – Ashton Deroy explores the option of using a loan to create a startup. Then suggests avoiding credit cards, capital, and debt financing all together for recreational businesses.
  2. Should I quit my job to run my online store?
  3. Should I get incorporated?

Section 6: Why are my sales so low?

  1. Creating a value proposition
  2. Throwing out the stock image advertisements
  3. Differentiating from your supplier

Section 7: The methods of Marketing, Integrating the campaign

For this section, I am going to link you to the Client Brief I submit as my Integrated Marketing Project in 2018 to my professor at Seneca College. The client I chose was TD Bank and I show how they tied their experiential marketing campaign with their YouTube video content that was also used as a television commercial.

You wrote the worst Marketing book I have ever had recommended to me by a Marketing professor I highly respect. Seth Godin’s All Marketers are Liars Storytellers is one of the worst books I have ever read. I thought if he can write this piece of crap and sell it a little under $20. I can create a resources index for free. I am thankful everyday I can save people the money for going out, buying that crappy book and being bored out of their skull. At least writing about digital Marketing I can write about a relevant topic and give real helpful advice and hyperlinks to important tools.

Thank you for being a jackass with an over-inflated ego
